She says she was impressed with the content but what won her over was the learning process. This is the school\u2019s second year using Nancy Larson Science K\u20133, and the teachers have been very impressed with the program. \u201cThe students\u2019 enthusiasm in the learning process has increased dramatically,\u201d O\u2019Neil said. \u201cThe biggest endorsement for the teachers is when their students respond positively and with enthusiasm.\u201d Kindergarten teacher Josie Fox says her students are thrilled when it comes time for science lessons. \u201cThey get excited when I tell them it\u2019s science time,\u201d said Fox, \u201cFor me that is my measurement on how well a program works in kindergarten.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"326\" height=\"283\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nancylarsonpublishers.com\/classroom\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/stb-plant.jpg\" alt=\"stb-plant\" class=\"wp-image-606\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nancylarsonpublishers.com\/classroom\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/stb-plant.jpg 326w, https:\/\/www.nancylarsonpublishers.com\/classroom\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/stb-plant-300x260.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.nancylarsonpublishers.com\/classroom\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/stb-plant-220x190.jpg 220w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 326px) 100vw, 326px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>Responsible for learning<\/strong><br>Jen Stuart is pleased that the program is age appropriate and has many hands-on elements. She says her second grade students are not only learning but also retaining the information. \u201cThe way the student booklets and study guides are laid out allows my students to actually take control and to be responsible for their own learning,\u201d Stuart said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Parents weigh in<\/strong><br>The parents at Saint Bernadette know the importance for their children to understand science and are pleased to see such an emphasis now being placed on science in the primary grades. \u201cIn our school community, a large number of parents work in high-tech industries,\u201d O\u2019Neil said. \u201cBecause of their line of work, they recognize that as the world is changing, science is a critical concept for their children to understand.
